What to Expect

Students in the nonprofit administration and social entrepreneurship major will take classes in the areas of social work, business, compassionate ministries, criminal justice, public relations, social entrepreneurship, community development, environmental justice and nonprofit administration. Students will be equipped to assess complex social issues affecting individuals, families,communities and marginalized people groups to inform creative solutions for poverty alleviation.  

The J.V. Morsch Center for Social Justice provides opportunities for students to apply classroom learning toward poverty alleviation. Students will be mentored by faculty and staff as they engage in best practices through the work of the Trevecca Urban Farm, TreeCycle, Neighborhood Empowerment Program, Social Business Laboratory,  Love Thy Neighborhood Collective and AmeriCorps VISTA programming.

Trevecca is the only member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) with an urban farm, providing opportunities for students to practice environmental stewardship and learn about food justice and animal husbandry while caring for the environment. The Trevecca Urban Farm was inspired as a teaching tool to equip students to help food-insecure neighborhoods around the world. With a worm farm, campus composting, beekeeping, an urban orchard, a greenhouse and vegetable gardens, the Urban Farm is a unique, productive agricultural space within view of Nashville’s skyscrapers.
