Value for your Service
Military scholarship
Trevecca offers a military scholarship equal to 10 percent of tuition per semester for all military service members, veterans, military spouses and dependents 23 and younger. This applies specifically to tuition for any nontraditional program at the university. Apply here..
Yellow Ribbon Program
We are pleased to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program to honor and support the men and women who have courageously served in our nation’s military forces. Eligible students are those utilizing the Post-9/11 GI Bill® and qualify for the 100 percent level. Trevecca makes unlimited participation slots available for all academic programs, including graduate and doctoral programs. We will provide matching funds for tuition and mandatory program fees through the Yellow Ribbon Program for eligible students whose tuition and fees exceeds the VA’s annual reimbursement cap.
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
College credit for experience
Trevecca evaluates military training for college credit, using the American Council of Education’s Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experience in the Armed Services. We look forward to helping military students apply earned credit where credit is due!
Policy for return of TA funds
TA funds are earned proportionally during an enrollment period, with unearned funds returned based upon when a student stops attending. In instances when a Service member stops attending due to a military service obligation, TNU will work with the affected Service member to identify solutions that will not result in a student debt for the returned portion.
TNU will (a) Return any TA Program funds directly to the Military Service, not to the Service member. (b) Up to the start date, return all (100 percent) TA funds to the appropriate Military Service when the Service member does not: (i) Begin attendance at TNU; or (ii) Start a course, regardless of whether the student starts other courses. (c) Return any TA funds paid for a course that is cancelled by TNU.
TNU will return any unearned TA funds on a proportional basis through at least the 60 percent portion of the period for which the funds were provided.
Cohort Default Rate
If Trevecca’s Cohort Default Rate (CDR) is greater than the national average CDR, we will disclose that information and provide students with loan repayment data. Students can also access Trevecca’s Cohort Default Rates any time by accessing the National Center for Education Statistics.
Point of Contact
Trevecca has designated the VA School Certifying Official within the Office of Academic Records as the point of contact for the programs related to benefits for veterans, service members and their dependents. The point of contact can be reached at MilitaryHelp@trevecca.edu or by calling (615) 248-1268. They are trained and qualified on the federal TA program, Veterans Affairs education benefits and state TA through the TN STRONG Act. They are also familiar with institution-based services and can direct Service members who are seeking information about academic counseling, financial aid counseling, job search support or other student support services at Trevecca.
Enrollment of Service members using TA
Eligible Service members who decide to use Tuition Assistance (TA) must receive approval from an Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within the Military Service prior to being enrolled at Trevecca.
Readmission of Services Members
Students who choose to withdraw may be readmitted and re-enrolled, without penalty or redetermination of admissions eligibility, within one year following release from the state or federal active military service.
A Great Fit
Veteran students are invited to participate in the university’s Student Veteran Association. Named in honor of a soldier and friend of the university who was killed in the line of duty, the William Bennett Memorial Chapter provides support and guidance for those transitioning from military to civilian life. Students benefit from interacting with fellow veterans, forming mentoring relationships and strengthening personal leadership skills by helping guide other veterans through their transition.
We understand you need a school schedule that fits your busy life. As a military student, you can choose to attend traditional daytime classes, once a week evening classes or earn your degree completely online, with books and materials delivered to your front door.
Online and evening students are part of a cohort, where they begin and complete their degree alongside a group of peers working toward the same goals. Constant interaction among this community means you won’t feel like you’re on an island. Our highly successful cohort model offers the support you need. Learn more about our academic programs.
