J. Allen teaches accounting at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has over 20 years of experience in higher education. He is a recipient of the Trevecca Excellence in Teaching award and twice received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Division of Management and Adult Studies Graduate Program. Prior to teaching, he was an auditor with Ernst and Young, LLP, and a fiscal analyst with Maximus management consulting. He also has served on a budget and finance committee for a non-for-profit organization. He is a certified public accountant and a certified global management accountant. He is a member of the business honorary society of Beta Gamma Sigma, the American Accounting Association, American Institute of CPAs, Tennessee Society of CPAs and the Tennessee Society of Accounting Educators. His articles have appeared in the Journal of Biblical Integration in Business and the proceedings of the American Accounting Association.
