Mrs. Smith is from Speculator, NY, a small town in the Adirondack Mountains. She received her B.A. in Intercultural Studies from Houghton College in upstate NY. She felt called to a career in medicine after spending her senior year in high school shadowing medical professionals throughout the various departments of a local hospital through a program called New Visions.
After completing the Physician Assistant program at Trevecca, she returned to upstate NY to practice emergency medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. After precepting PA students in the emergency department, she realized she could help prepare students for emergency medicine during the didactic phase of their education and returned to Nashville and Trevecca to join the teaching faculty in the PA program. She lives with her husband, Bryan and daughter, Mercy in Thompson’s Station, TN.
