While Mrs. Marklin was actually born in Nashville, TN, she spent her early childhood in Franklin, KY and later childhood in Richmond, VA. She completed her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Health Sciences from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. During her time at Harding, she served on mission in Zambia with physicians and physician assistants, and through this was made aware of the value of teamwork between healthcare providers. After graduating from Harding, Rachel pursued a Master of Science in Medicine at Trevecca Nazarene University's PA Program. She then practiced in Bowling Green, KY under a multi-specialty group in the gastroenterology department before returning to Trevecca's PA Program as a didactic faculty member in August 2022. Rachel is married to Wes, and they welcomed their first daughter, Millie, in late 2023. Millie has three fur brothers, including a cat (Tiger) and two dogs (Mac and Palmer).
