Roy's expertise is in marketing, international business and production and operations management, with an emphasis on strategy.
He has over 25 years of teaching experience (both at the undergraduate and graduate level). He has taught in India, Kenya, Belize and in the USA. During his tenure in the academic field, he has taught a wide range of business courses: Principles of Marketing, International Marketing, Sales Fundamentals, Advertising Management, Business Communication, Principles of Management, Management Theory and Practice, Marketing Research, Business Statistics, Human Resource Management, International Business, International management, Consumer Behavior, Production and Operations Management, Systems Management, Conflict and Change Management, Personal Finance, Marketing Management, and Strategic Management.
Roy also has had professional experience in industry holding positions in sales, administration, and consulting. While in India, he began his career in marketing with International Computers and Indian Manufacturers (ICIM) as a Marketing Executive and then in administration as an Administrative Officer for his alma mater (Bishop Heber College, Trichy, India), where he was involved in the administration of the business office and strategically planning courses for the university, especially for the school of business. After moving to the USA, he was (and is currently) involved in marketing consultancy to local small businesses helping them with market research and SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats) analysis. At present, he is an academic consultant to Africa Nazarene University and helps in the strategic planning for the university's new doctoral programHe is also an adjudicator on the advisory committee in the Ph.D. program at Alagappa Institute of Management in India and a consultant to small businesses in Belize.
He has presented scholarly work at numerous conferences in the USA since 2008 in marketing and is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA-since 2010), the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA), the Marketing Management Association (MMA) and the Nashville American Marketing Association (NAMA). He is involved in the AMA intercollegiate competition conference held every year in March reviewing papers for the conference as well as judging competitions. He has also served on the board of the CBFA and has been a conference paper reviewer with CBFA and MMA.
His cocurricular activities on campus include being the faculty sponsor for the AMA chapter and the international students club, Namaste.
Roy is a prolific speaker who loves to talk about marketing and international business. His wife, Jooly Philip, also teaches at Trevecca and they have two grown sons. His favorite past times include working out, playing music and all kinds of sports and watching movies.
