Along with teaching, Dr. Hopkins maintains a private practice in the Nashville area and works therapeutically with individuals and couples. She also provides clinical supervision as an AAMFT approved supervisor. She also serves as a supervisor mentor for others in-training to provide clinical supervision to counselors in the region. Dr. Hopkins is passionate about training new clinicians to embrace the science and art of counseling and works to ensure students in the graduate counseling program leave with the knowledge needed to make a positive impact on their future clients.
Prior to teaching full time, she ran a college counseling center for 10+ years, worked in the foster care system as a counselor for kids in custody, and served as a case manager for families in DCS custody. Dr. Hopkins originates from rural Arkansas where she grew up to appreciate small town living and Razorback football. She has lived in Middle Tennessee for 20+ years with her husband and three children. She practices self-care finding fun tv series to binge with her husband and by being in nature while on hikes or by sitting on her back porch listening to the birds with a good fiction book in hand.
